Somatic Release Ritual
A guided bodywork experience for slowing down, paying attention and reconnecting with the experience of being in your body.
Sometimes you don't need another appointment where you're asked to explain everything.
Sometimes you need space to slow down.
Somatic Release Rituals combine slow, intentional massage with breath, mindfulness and body-awareness practices to create an unhurried space to notice how you're feeling — physically, mentally and emotionally.
The focus isn't on finding a hidden cause or forcing your body to change.
It's on developing awareness, choice and a more attentive relationship with your own physical experience.
Ideal for people who feel tense, tired, overloaded or simply ready for an hour where they don't have to perform, achieve or solve anything.
Each session is individualised to your preferences, comfort and goals. There is no generic sequence and no expectation that you need to have previous experience with somatic or breath-based practices.
Please note that Somatic Release Rituals are a wellness service (non-clinical) and are not eligible for Medicare or private health insurance rebates.
What Makes this Different?
This isn't a standard massage.
It's a slower, more intentional experience designed for people who want more than simply working through a list of tight muscles.
Using warm oil and deep tissue massage techniques, we work at a pace that gives you time to notice what you're experiencing.
Breath and body-awareness cues may be incorporated throughout the session, inviting you to pay attention to sensations, movement and areas of tension without needing to analyse or explain them.
You remain in control throughout.
You can ask for more or less pressure, change position, pause a technique or stop the session at any time.
The aim isn't to force a particular response.
It's to create a space where you can slow down, notice what's there and experience what feels useful for you.
What Does "Somatic" Mean?
The word somatic comes from the Greek soma, meaning body.
In this context, somatic practices focus on your subjective experience of your body — what you notice, feel and become aware of as you move, breathe and receive touch.
During a session, this may include:
Internal Awareness
Noticing physical sensations and changes in your experience rather than focusing only on what can be observed externally.
Breath & Body Awareness
Using gentle breathing and attention cues to encourage a slower, more present experience.
Mindful Movement
Exploring simple movements or changes in position with attention to comfort, sensation and choice.
Intentional Touch
Using massage and bodywork techniques selected according to your preferences, presentation and goals.
A Session Designed
Around You
Every session begins with a conversation about what you're looking for.
We'll discuss your preferences, relevant history, areas you'd like addressed and anything you'd like me to know before we begin.
From there, the session is shaped around you.
The pressure.
The pace.
The areas we focus on.
The amount of conversation.
The amount of quiet.
Nothing is performed automatically and nothing is added without your consent.
A Space To Slow Down
There is no homework.
No unsolicited advice.
No expectation that you need to explain yourself perfectly.
Just time, attention and a considered approach to bodywork.
You don't need to arrive knowing what you need.
We can start with what you notice today.
What You Can Expect
A typical session may include:
A brief conversation about your current needs and preferences
Massage and bodywork using warm oil
Slow, deliberate techniques
Breath and body-awareness cues
Gentle movement or positional exploration where appropriate
Time to pause, reflect or simply be quiet
A brief check-in at the end of the session
Every session is different because every person and every day is different.
